Most of the people don't know the significance of the International Workers' Day of May Day or they have little idea about the fact. In the late 19th century the working condition was so severe as it might reach working period upto 10 to 16 hours a day. The workers were consistently struggling against the long working hours. They claimed that the working period would be 8 hours without any cut to their payments. Several injuries and death were reported during the struggle.

The sacrifice of many people gives us the 8 hours working periods we are now enjoying. The history of their sacrifice can't be forgotten. This is why we celebrate May Day.
